In 1924, German brothers Adolf and Rudolf Dassler created ‘Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik’ translated as ‘Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory’. At the 1936 Olympics, athlete Jesse Owens won four gold medals whilst wearing the company’s shoes showing their durability and high performance. In 1948 the brothers decided to part ways, with Rudolf setting up Puma and Adolf starting rival sports brand Adidas. Since the split, Puma went on to become a multinational company producing athletic apparel, footwear, equipment and accessories.

Since the 1936 Olympics, Puma’s designs have been the footwear of choice for top athletes such as record breaker Heinz Fütterer who ran the 100 meters in 10.2 seconds wearing Puma running shoes. Puma also sponsors the Italian football team and has partnerships with Ferrari and BMW.

Puma’s success is ever expanding with 9,500 employees in more than 120 countries and continues to be seen on top athletes around the world.
